JOB TITLE: Team Leader

REPORTS TO: Contracts Manager/Contracts Supervisor

FUNCTION: Contracts

LOCATION: Site-based

SALARY: Between £19.06 and £22.66 per hour depending on experience

HOURS: 47.5 hours a week to suit site times and may include weekends or night shifts

PURPOSE STATEMENT

To ensure that contracts are fulfilled on site safely, efficiently, and effectively, and that agreed procedures and reporting requirements are adhered to.

DIMENSIONS

Staff: Normally, one jetting operator, but senior team leaders may be asked to coordinate more than one team.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To take ownership of the red file(s), ensuring that the site requirements/RAMS/measures are fully understood and signed off accordingly
  • To take ownership and sign for the equipment supplied by the workshop against the SECL and ensure that it is all accounted for and/or returned at the end of the job
  • On arrival at site, assess/measure the job and report any deviation from RAMS or scope to Contracts Management prior to commencing jetting works
  • Ensure jetting team(s) have appropriate PPE for the specific job (Compliant to RAMS) and they comply with H&S and regulatory rules whilst working for the company
  • Ensuring that site jetting operations start on time and run continuously throughout the day, thus maximising available jetting time
  • Ensure availability of petty cash (£50) to cover incidental expenses as and when they arise.
  • Keep van clean and tidy and ensure that consumables, standard equipment, and tools are kept tidily, in good condition, and agreed stock levels are maintained
  • Ensure that routine reporting is carried out accurately and reports sent in on time, including: Daily Diary Sheets, Daily Measures, Time Sheets and Delivery Notes, trainee assessment forms etc
  • Ensure non-routine reporting/communication is carried out effectively, including “near miss reports”, “fault reports”, and that any other significant issue is reported back to the Contracts Supervisor
  • Act as the envoy for RGL and ensure that the team maintains a smart appearance, is polite in dealings with the client/client’s staff, and that the RGL brand in represented in the highest possible manner
  • To take part in other job-relevant company activities as directed by the Contracts Supervisor or Directors

CONTEXT

RGL is a successful company that is growing and developing rapidly. As a result, many changes are taking place within the company. The role of Team Leader is diverse as the job holder not only partakes in and coordinates site activity, they must also be the company representative when dealing with the client. The role operates remotely from the Head Office; therefore, keeping communications efficient and consistent can be a challenge.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

The role holder will need extensive knowledge of the water jetting equipment, practices, and procedures. Health and Safety are of the utmost importance; therefore, a full understanding and up-to-date knowledge of WJA practices is a prerequisite.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • RAMS are fully understood and complied with on-site
  • The site is effectively set up and jetting operations commence with the minimum of delay
  • Jetting Operations are carried out efficiently and safely, and daily targets are met or exceeded
  • No delays due to shortage of consumables, standard equipment, or standard tools
  • All relevant administration is carried out accurately, signed off by the client when appropriate, and submitted in a timely fashion
  • Company vans are kept clean, tidy, and orderly, and the routine checks are always carried out
  • All equipment signed out is returned to the yard or accounted for, with any anomalies reported to workshop staff
  • All clients are pleased with the service they have received from RGL and would be glad to have the team back next time
  • The RGL brand is promoted by the Jetting Teams through a disciplined approach to work, smart appearance, and appropriate behaviour.
