What is Water Jetting?

Water jetting is a method of cutting, cleaning, and surface preparation using highly pressurised jets of water.


What is the difference between High Pressure (HP) and Ultra High Pressure (UHP) in water jetting terms?

HP is defined by any water jetting operations carried out at pressures below 1700 bar, whereas UHP is when the pressure used exceeds this.

Where would you use HP, and where would you use UHP?

HP would be used in applications where a high flow of water is required, such as drain unblocking, where the force of the water is needed to “flush out” the blockage. In contrast, with UHP, a high water jet speed is created. This water jet is localized and much more focused, making it very efficient for cutting metal, removing concrete, or preparing concrete or steel surfaces.

Is there a reaction force from a water jet?

Yes, a reaction force is generated; however, it must not exceed 250 Newtons/25 kg to comply with the Water Jetting Association code of practice.

Is water jetting dangerous?

As with any industrial operation, there are potential hazards; however, these are mitigated through the application of safe working practices and the use of appropriate PPE.

Are any chemicals used in the process?

No chemicals are used in our water jetting operations; however, abrasive water jet cutting uses an inert mineral abrasive within the water jet to facilitate metal cutting.
