POSITION: Senior Estimator

SALARY: Starting at £32k

HOURS: 08.00 to 13.00 and 13.30 to 17.00 Monday to Friday

LOCATION: Romsey SO51 6AL

DESCRIPTION:

Due to ongoing success, the company is actively seeking to employ an experienced Estimator. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and expanding business. The role will be based near Romsey (SO516AL) in the South of England.

THE ROLE:

The role purpose is to take overall charge of a busy estimation function. This involves taking live enquires and assessing/quantifying the resources required (time, equipment, people subcontract services etc) to deliver client requirements and prepare quotations, commercial documentation and update the CRM system accordingly.

Principle Activities of the role:

• Defining and quantifying requirements to fulfil specific contracts through site visits, site surveys and/or liaison with client staff, take off’s from drawings etc.

• Defining any sub-contractor requirements and gathering quotes accordingly.

• From an accurate assessment of the client’s requirements (above) prepare quotations and any other relevant commercial documentation as per the agreed process.

• To attend pre-contract/pre-let meetings as and when required and/or as directed

• Researching materials, equipment and any costs that may be applicable to fulfilling the Clients requirements.

• Preparing tender documentation and preparation of bids as and when required

• Ensuring that the CRM system is constantly updated

Carries out “follow up” calls to potential clients once proposals have been sent

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Of graduate calibre from a relevant construction or surveying discipline or similar.

• Must have previous site experience gained in a similar role in either a construction or engineering environment.

• Strong numeracy skills and a keen attention to detail.

• Possess a positive “can do” attitude coupled with a pleasant demeanour.

• Able to demonstrate an ability to carry out on site surveys.

• Able to read and interpret construction plans and engineering drawings.

• Committed to continuous improvement.

• Able to use the Microsoft office suite of programs in particular, Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Experience in the use of a CRM database “ACT”. (Training will be provided for this).

• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to discuss at all levels.

• Able to travel and spend nights away from home to visit client sites and to carry out site surveys as an integral part of the role.

• Capable of, willing to and hungry to develop the role and to play a part in the growth within the company.
