Cutting
Abrasive water jet cutting introduces an abrasive grit into an ultra-high-pressures stream of water, travelling at over twice the speed of sound. This abrasive stream makes short work of cutting through steel and leaves a smooth, clean, cut surface. An incredibly versatile technique which, can cut almost any material and is safe to employ in explosive or volatile atmospheres.
Cold cutting in hazardous environments
One of the principle benefits of Abrasive Water Jet Cold Cutting is that it can be used to cut steel in hazardous, explosive and/or zone rated environments.
Cutting thick materials
An abrasive water jet is an incredibly versatile method used cut a variety of materials. One of its primary benefits is the ability to cut particularly thick materials. With waterjet cutting, thick steel and other materials can be cut accurately and efficiently.
To date RGL have successfully cut through a variety of Metals (inc. Carbon steel, Stainless steel, Aluminium, Red Metals (Copper, Brass and Bronze), Tool Steel (annealed or hardened), Titanium), Plastics, Composites, Ceramics, Rubber, Foam, Glass, Stone, Tile.
Cutting underwater piles
Over the years RGL has amassed a range of rigs and equipment to dredge, prove and cut piles with diameters ranging from 300mm to over 4,000mm and a variety of wall thicknesses.
We have successfully cut off “piles”, “met masts” and “wind turbine supporting monopiles” below the seabed without the need for operatives in the water.
Cutting out sewer obstructions
Blocked underground pipes can be a major problem
particularly when the blockage impacts on their function and where traditional
drain jetting methods have failed.
RGL have developed a range of remotely controlled, forward cutting abrasive water jet rigs which can operate in any pipes above 280mm diameter. These rigs are inserted into the pipe and will cut out metal or concrete obstructions without damaging the pipe itself.
