Corrosion Removal on Steel Surfaces
Ultra High Pressure (UHP) non-abrasive Water Jetting is a particularly suitable and efficient method of
removing rust and other corrosion from metallic surfaces.
UHP Water Jets prepare steel surfaces to ISO 8501-4 standards and Wa2½ surface finish is easily achieved.
By its very nature corrosion is weakening and thinning any metal it acts upon which means, although the
removal of rust is important to ensure continuing structural integrity, it is paramount that additional stress
and strain is kept to a minimum.
Traditional dry blasting methods can cause 35 times more steel to be removed which further decreases the
strength of the already corroded steel. By taking off just the minimum amount necessary to clean the surface of
corrosion (in some cases as little as 0. 015mm) UHP Water Jetting guarantees that the metal retains as much
strength as possible whilst also providing the best possible profile for the application of any protective
coatings.
RGL have extensive experience in the reapplication of coatings in maintenance and repair situations.
We are active members of the Institute of Corrosion and the Water Jetting Association ensuring we keep up to
date with the latest developments and issues involving surface preparation, safe working practices and health
and safety legislation.
We have the experience and equipment to remove corrosion in confined spaces, hazardous environments
and unusual situations.
