Bridges and Water Jetting solutions
RGL have been working on bridges for over 25 years throughout the UK. Some of our first concrete
Hydrodemolition projects were on bridge repair and upgrade projects. Each bridge offers a different set
of challenges.
We have dealt with bearing removal, crosshead removal, repairs on columns, pillars, decks, beams,
wing walls, and abutments. We have removed coatings and Road markings. RGL also undertake anti skid removal
and can retexture tarmac. Steel decks can be prepared removing old coatings and corrosion. In some cases
we have had to ensure the water we used was captured, cleaned and recycled.
Some bridges types we have working on:
- Bridges over 1,000 metres in length
- River Crossings
- Rail Crossings
- Steel Bridges
- Historic Stone and Iron bridges
- Motorway bridges
Services RGL can offer:
Hydrodemolition of concrete: Selective Removal/Precision
cutting of parts of the bridge prior to strengthening, widening or repairs.
Surface preparation of steel or concrete bridges before a weather protection or water proofing coating is
applied. The Water Jetting techniques we use ensure the steel or concrete surface is optimised in terms
of new coating bond strength and thus minimises failure rate.
Concrete scabbling or laitance removal is often required on the
deck surface or other concrete faces of a bridge. Water Jetting can provide a vibration and dust free solution.
We have been requested to provide Cold Cutting
services. UHP Abrasive Water Jet cutting can provide the solution you need for cutting steel without heat or sparks.
We can operate 7 days a week 24 hours a day, throughout the UK.
